Well, we have heard of many types of projector screens in our lives, let us now tell you about a different kind of a movie projector screen and it is called acoustically transparent projector screen. An acoustically transparent projector screen is suited best in the scenario where the speakers are to be placed behind the projection screen. When you do not want the sound waves to interact with the screen, moving across the screen and causing disruptions, this acoustically transparent projection screen is going to help. Despite the speakers are placed behind the screen, the screen will neither diminish the quality of the audio, nor the video.
The acoustically transparent screen work by utilizing negative space on the surface. This feature allows the sound waves to easily travel through without interfering from the surface. This screen is useful when you need to install your home theatre projector, but space is too less for it and there is no other place to install the speakers besides placing them behind the screen. There are two types of acoustically transparent screens available- perforated and woven.
The perforated screen as the name suggests is made up of a series of holes around 0.3 mm in diameter. There are some manufacturers who are making micro perforated materials with a smaller diameter hole.
As opposed to the perforated screens, we have woven screens which are made as the textiles are woven on a loom. The woven screens have more natural variations in their pattern and thickness, and this makes them more effective by reducing the alignment.
